Two PhD student Open Positions

We are pleased to announce two PhD opportunities at the AI for Advanced Materials & Engineering Design (AMED) Lab at AI4I, offered in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano (PoliMI). These positions strengthen our growing research efforts at the intersection of AI, computational design, and architected / intelligent materials.

Position 1 — Physics-Informed Generative AI for Architected Materials

Position 2 — AI-Guided Design of Programmable Intelligent Metamaterials

Department of Structural, Seismic and Geotechnical Engineering, PoliMI
Co-supervisor: Prof. Valentina Zega (expert in MEMS and dynamic metamaterials)

As is standard for PhD programs in Europe, a Master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) is required for admission.

The selected candidates will also have opportunities for international collaborations, including with UC Berkeley, Penn State, Imperial College London, and other partners in our research network.
